Jay A. Cohen, The Ocala Insurance Guy

Meet Jay A. Cohen

The Ocala Insurance Guy

I help individuals, families and businesses understand their insurance options and make informed decisions with confidence.

Insurance Guidance Built Around Real People

Insurance decisions can affect your health, your family, your employees and your financial future. I believe those decisions deserve clear explanations, thoughtful comparisons and time to ask questions—not pressure to make a quick choice.

As a licensed health and life insurance agent, I help individuals, families and businesses evaluate coverage based on their needs, priorities and budget. My work includes health insurance, life insurance, annuities, employee benefits, ICHRA, level-funded health plans, and dental and vision coverage.

My goal is to make complicated insurance topics easier to understand so you can make an informed decision with confidence. When an option is not the right fit, I will tell you that too.

Who I Help

I work with individuals and families looking for health, life, dental, vision or retirement-income options, as well as employers building benefits programs for their employees.

Every situation is different. Some people need help understanding individual coverage, while others are protecting a family, planning for retirement, building a legacy, preparing for future charitable contributions or comparing employee-benefit strategies for a growing business.

I also work with clients whose planning may involve substantial life insurance needs, retirement assets, business responsibilities, legacy goals or future charitable giving.

Whether you know exactly what you need or are simply trying to understand where to begin, I can help you review the available options and identify the questions worth asking.

A Personal Approach to Insurance

Insurance is personal. The right coverage depends on more than a product name or monthly premium. It should reflect the people you want to protect, the responsibilities you carry and the goals you are working toward.

I take the time to understand what matters to you before discussing possible solutions. I explain how the options work, where the differences are and what limitations or tradeoffs should be considered.

Mentorship and education have always been important parts of how I work with people. I bring that same mindset to my client relationships by helping people understand not only what their options are, but how those options work and why the differences may matter to their goals.

My role is to provide information and guidance, answer your questions honestly and help you make a decision that feels right for your situation.

Local Service With a Broader Reach

Ocala, Florida is home, and it is an important part of who I am and how I work. Being known as The Ocala Insurance Guy reflects my connection to the community and my commitment to being available when clients have questions or need help.

At the same time, my work extends beyond Central Florida. I am licensed in multiple states and can assist individuals, families and businesses with coverage needs that may cross state lines.

Whether we meet locally, speak by phone or connect virtually, you can expect the same personal attention, clear communication and ongoing support.

Connected to the Community

Being part of the Ocala community means more to me than simply doing business here. I believe in giving my time, bringing people together and helping support organizations that serve our neighbors.

I help coordinate monthly dinners for Interfaith Emergency Services, working with local volunteers, sponsors and businesses to provide meals for individuals and families in need.

I have served on the boards of directors of several nonprofit organizations. Those experiences have given me a deeper appreciation for responsible leadership, community service and the practical challenges organizations face when caring for their members and planning for the future.

As an entrepreneur who has owned and operated businesses, I understand the responsibilities that come with serving customers, supporting employees, managing costs and planning for the future. That perspective helps me better understand the concerns business owners bring to conversations about insurance and employee benefits.

As a longtime member of Toastmasters International, I have strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, listen carefully and explain complicated subjects in a way that people can understand—skills that are especially valuable when discussing insurance.

Insurance Education Beyond the Appointment

I believe people make better insurance decisions when they understand their choices. That is why education is an important part of my work—not only during individual conversations, but also through the information I share online.

As The Ocala Insurance Guy, I use my website, YouTube and Facebook to explain insurance topics, answer common questions and help people become more confident consumers.

These resources are designed to provide a helpful starting point. When your situation requires personal guidance, I am available to help you move from general information to a conversation about your specific needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Working With Jay

Below are answers to common questions about my services, approach and the people I help. Insurance products, carrier availability and licensing requirements vary by state and individual circumstances.

Do you work with both individuals and businesses?

Yes. I help individuals and families with health, life, dental, vision and retirement-income options. I also work with employers evaluating group health insurance, level-funded plans, ICHRA and other employee benefits.

Do you work only with clients in Ocala, Florida?

No. Ocala is my home and an important part of my identity, but I am licensed in multiple states and can work with clients by phone or virtually when appropriate.

Do you represent more than one insurance company?

Yes. I work with multiple well-established insurance carriers, including companies that have earned A+ financial-strength ratings from independent rating organizations such as AM Best. Carrier ratings can change and do not guarantee a particular product’s performance, but they can provide useful information about an insurer’s financial strength and ability to meet its obligations.

Availability depends on the type of insurance, the applicant’s location, eligibility requirements and my appointment with each carrier.

What should I expect during our first conversation?

Our first conversation is an opportunity to discuss what you are trying to accomplish, review your questions and identify the information needed to evaluate possible options. There is no expectation that you make an immediate decision.

Can you help if I am not sure what type of coverage I need?

Yes. You do not need to know the exact product before contacting me. We can begin with your concerns, responsibilities, goals and budget, then determine which options may be worth exploring.

Every insurance decision begins with understanding what matters to you. Whether you are comparing personal coverage, protecting your family, planning for the future or reviewing benefits for your business, I am here to help you understand your options and decide what comes next.
